I have been with Parallels since June of 2015. I began as an intern for Dr. John W. Herdman. I met John while employed with DHHS and had the privilege to collaborate with several clients. Following the completion of my internship and school in April 2015, I joined the practice full time and in June 2016 I accepted the role and position as Chief Operating Officer.
I am a Lincoln native. Born and raised. (Go LINKS) I graduated with a Master of arts in Counseling from Doane College. I have three children and two dogs. My free time away from the office is spent with my family and friends. I love music of all kinds and love going to any live music and introducing my children to all different musical experiences. I love plants, flowers, and a clean house; however, they all seem to be seasonal. As such, I strive to enjoy the right now and today rather than look at what I do not have or live in anticipation of something more or different to come. I believe we are all a beautiful works of progress.
As a provider I am open and excited about working with a wide variety of patient dynamics, mental health diagnosis, and concepts. I enjoy working with the court system including matters in juvenile, civil, criminal, or district courts. I also enjoy working with children six years and older, adolescents/teens, women, men, families and couples. I have developed the thought practice of not specializing or being an expert in one thing yet. As I continue to learn, serve, and explore individuals lives and circumstances I hope to seek education and knowledge accordingly. I have been practicing therapy for four years and working in human service for nine years. I believe that neither of these time durations give me experience to label my focus as an expertise or specialist, however, I am continuing to strive for education, growth and enlightening opportunities to serve others.
Previously, I have worked as a Correctional Officer with the Nebraska Department of Corrections (2010-2013), a Child and Family Service Specialist with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services-Child and Family Service Division (2013-2015) and prior to being in the Human Service field I was employed as a Banker for Tier One Bank and my first job ever was at Runza.
